Reset LightRules User Password


Overview

If you cannot login to LightRules there are multiple methods to reset your password. The following instructions assume you can access the LightRules login screen.

Instructions

  1. Start by scrolling to the gray bar at the bottom of the LightRules login screen and note the version number listed beneath the copyright information
    1. Example version numbers include 3.2.0 or 2.7.1
    2. On some versions of LightRules you may need to click the About icon in the gray bar at the bottom of the screen, then note the version number listed in the WebApp row
  2. For LightRules v2.12 and newer there are three options to reset the password. For earlier versions, option 3 is not available
    1. If someone else at the facility is able to login to LightRules and has admin privileges, then they can reset your password by clicking the Admin tab and selecting Users. There will be an edit button next to each name, which will take you to a screen where the password can be reset by selecting the Change Password button
    2. Alternatively, if email is configured in your LightRules installation you can perform the following steps:
      1. On the LightRules login screen, click Reset forgotten password
      2. On the Reset Password screen, type your email address, and then click Reset Password
      3. Open the auto-generated email from LightRules and click the link
      4. Enter your new password in the top and bottom fields
      5. Click Change Password
    3. If the above options are not feasible, SiteWorx Support is currently providing LightRules password resets. Note, no additional support is provided beyond this reset.
      1. Click Forgot your Password? on the LightRules login screen
      2. Note the System ID, located below the customer support information
      3. Email this ID to support@siteworx.io. Please copy and paste if possible
      4. SiteWorx Support will respond with a reset code, which must be used within 12hrs of receipt. Note, SiteWorx Support does not provide a dedicated response time to password reset requests, so please allow some time to receive a response
